As part of the human family, we would all like to wish that colour, cultural background, disability, sexual orientation, faith, gender etc should not be an issue when caring for children as we want the best outcomes for them. Yet within our sphere prejudices and discrimination exist in droves.
What is Prejudice?
Prejudice is an unjustified or incorrect attitude (usually negative) towards an individual based solely on the individual’s membership of a social group.
What is Discrimination?
Discrimination is treating a person or particular group of people differently, especially worse than other people, because of their skin colour, sex, sexuality etc.
There are so many policies in place to address these issues, yet we all know that what is written isn’t always practised.
